The marauder build is very interesting. Just need a couple of extra pieces.
With all these options, a quick save and select for builds would be awsome. Fingers crossed.

I really want to try a full on beast rider build but haven't really got ideal pieces yet. Shadow mounting drakes without breaking them first! Yes please 😄

I would love some sort of quick swap for gear or even for different upgrades on skills. That way if I'm geared and skilled for fire and run up against a fire proof or fire enraged captain I can just hit a button and switch to a poison set up without having to pull up the menu.

Death and Taxes Build

This build has changed my playstyle most out of any of the builds we've tried recently. Reason: the Slaughter set HURTS you, and so you'll be close to death often. However it won't KILL you, it'll just get your life to be very very low. So it plays somewhat like a Vendetta set build. The major difference is that you "eat" orcs to gain back life.  It's an ironic build on two fronts, wild attacking may return your health but can easily leave you without enemy grunts to heal yourself (so save grunts for health), and even though you hurt friendly orcs with the set bonus, it made me always want followers with me. This is because you draw a 40% boost from being nearby followers. So a Consume move with Chain of Souls becomes a big health boost plus 80% damage boost. 

 

My favorite iteration uses 4 pieces of the Slaughter set with 2 from the Maurauder Set. What happens is that this build compounds the 40% extra damage from dominating grunts with the 40% extra damage of being surrounded by allies, AND then adds on the Mirian boosting benefits of the Marauder set. You will find yourself at low life, with huge damage boosts.

 

Fave things to do in the build

Running through mirian piles and getting large damage boosts.

Consuming a grunt and receiving an 80% damage boost.

Elven Light and getting a sudden health return.

Planning approaches to have the highest damage boost and health when attacking a captain.

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED ie. Most important pieces.

2 Slaughter pieces. Any combo.

 

Talion will always be losing health with this mix. However he will rapidly be gaining it as enemy grunts are slaughtered and drained/dominated. If you are using only 2 set pieces, I recommend you set the Drain ability to "Quiver of Souls". This will allow you use Shadow Dominate or Shadow Strike + Ground Dominate alongside "Consume". You'll be flying around to heal and it will help increase the uses of the Shadow abilities. Note you can combine a rune that will give you elf shot back as well, creating INFINITE Shadow Dominates or Shadow Strike + Ground Dominates. Only reason I don't say to do it in the Complete build is because of the bonus 40% damage by having followers with you.

 

COMPLETE BUILD

Slaughter Set Bonus, Slowly drains Health but briefly increases damage 40% after Drain or Dominate (2 pieces)

Slaughter Set Bonus, Having Followers nearby increases your damage by 40%, but their Health constantly drains (4 pieces)

Marauder Set Bonus, Picking up Mirian increases damage by 2% per Mirian gained for 20 seconds. (2 pieces)

 

Marauder Sword - Raider's

Enemies killed by Melee Attacks have a 31% chance of dropping 5 Mirian.

31 Health recovery on a Critical Hit (includes headshots and stealth attacks, ice finishers)

You get this from: Slayer or Berserker

 

Slaughter Dagger - Blood

Recover 11 Health when killing an enemy

Quick throw applies curse every 30 seconds

You get this from: Assassin

 

Slaughter Bow - Blood

 

Recover 11 Health when killing an enemy

 

41% Chance a Headshot Poisons enemies

Longbow

You get this from: Marksman or Tracker

 

Slaughter Armor - Blood

 

Recover 11 Health when killing an enemy

21% that a Critical Hit applies Frost

You get this from: Destroyer or Tank

 

Slaughter Cloak - Blood

 

Recover 11 Health when killing an enemy

50% increased damage dealt by Beast allies. (Beasts are super useful with this build. When Talion rides one, the beast will begin to receive damage as Talion's health is drained. However Talion's health maintains. As the beast crushes/eats/burns Talion's health returns. Thus a beast is a fantastic way to quick save Talion when losing life)

You get this from: Beastmaster or Tricster

 

Maruader Rune - Raider's

Enemies killed by Follower Attacks have a 29% Chance of dropping 5 Mirian (this is important because you'll be dominating a lot of grunts with the Slaughter build. Now those grunts will also be making you more Mirian)

 

Replenish 1 Elf - Shot when dominating an Enemy.

You get this from Marauder Commander

 

 

Gem options: There is an opportunity for players to load up their weapons with Lifesteal or Mirian Gems. I've tested both and I prefer the lifesteal option. It provides Talion with more healing opportunities when fighting a single captain. Both the Marauder and the Slaughter tribe builds excel with enemy grunts around. A lonely captain is actually pretty strong against the build overall.

I found adding life steal gems to the sword and bow helped me keep my health up much higher.

 

Final Ability Augments

Fatal Counter: Get Health Quickly by killing grunts

Ceaseless Might

Elven Light with Poison (good at killing grunts for health)

Drain with Dominate (good for the bonus 40% damage by having followers nearby)

Iron Guard: Rather than having a body guard, having grunts to quickly summon for health and damage boosts.

Mind Breaker: For all the dominating you'll be doing

Consume with Chain of Souls

Ice Storm with Frost bite: Hitting a frozen enemy will heal you if you have the green gems in your sword. That, plus the critical hit will heal you off the marauder weapon. Great for captain battles.

The build I'm using today has some Marauder in it. It's inspired me to try some more Marauder gameplay Smiley Happy.

 

The White gem part fascinates me as well. Incorporating gems to optimize the build is something I'm experimenting more with.

Darkest Dagger can have tons of different secondary abilities outside poison, fire, curse etc.

 

First of all Darkest Dagger gets a legendary addition of increasing total poison damage.

 

Then it can get freezing, or elfshot return on a brutal kill, elf shot on a throw, maybe a percent chance to not be detected by a captain, maybe gaining might.

 

There are tons of options.

Does anyone know if there's a hammer that created a Poison explosion on fully Charged Ranged Attacks? The Warmonger one does it with Fire and the Bright Lord with Frost, so anyone know?

@MonolithJared I know you already did the Slaughter Marauder build on stream, but I have a suggestion for it and would like to know what you think.

Since the health drained from Slaughter set is a percent instead of a set amount and all your health on kill and on critical is the opposite, switch the green gems on your armor and cloak to red.

Here's why: You'll actually lose less health per tick (1/10 second?) but gain the same amount of health per kill. I believe it's a good trade to take less damage over time from the Slaughter set while gaining the same amount of health you always did. This also allows you to use red gems to buff ALL damage in your armor and cloak slots. The whole point of this build is buffing damage in exchange for health.

Lastly is the rune slot. Since your grunts lose life over time like you do, why not use a green gem there to help them live longer? They'll still lose health at the same rate from the Slaughter set but they will take less damage from attacks and be able to survive better, prolonging your damage bonus from the Slaughter set 4 piece bonus.

@TheTarkLord I finally got a chance to check my hammers. They cause elemental damage on headshots, not just by throwing them at the ground like the hammers you're talking about.
